Welcome to the TRIZ Effects Database - a TRIZ tool provided by Oxford Creativity.

The Effects Database provides answers to such queries in the form of a list of Effects, i.e. physical phenomena or applications of physical phenomena.

WHY USE THE TRIZ EFFECTS DATABASE?

To support problem solving by answering questions such as:

  • How do I move a liquid?
  • How do I increase temperature?
  • How do I measure pressure?

The Effects Database provides answers to such queries in the form of a list of Effects, i.e. physical phenomena or applications of physical phenomena.

To use the database, visit TRIZ Effects Database then select the type of query you wish to make.


Examples of how best to use the database are explained below:

You will then be presented with two sets of radio buttons corresponding to the two required elements of the selected query type.

Select one button from each set and press the Submit button.

The Results will be presented as a list of suggested Effects, each of which is linked to a short description of the effect and, in some cases, a short application note.

For most effects, clicking on the name of the Effect in the description is will take you to a relevant page on Wikipedia or other web resource.

Bear in mind that the database makes suggestions based on a wide range of possible applications of each Effect. You will have to decide for yourself which (if any) of the suggested effects is useful for your particular application.
