TRIZ Trends of Evolution - Increasing Ideality & S-Curves
Increasing Ideality & S-curves is the TRIZ trend of evolution which encompasses all the others. It states that technological systems will evolve to provide more benefits, with less harms and with decreased inputs/costs – in the direction of increasing ideality.
S-Curves represent the lifecycle of any system, including technological, showing how Ideality changes with Time.
When a system is first invented the Ideality curve is quite shallow, but when the system comes into use (and usually onto the market), Ideality improves rapidly. Later there is a stage when it is hard to improve anymore and the curve flattens out again as the system reaches its maturity.
