Instead of the 5 classes in Classical TRIZ the 76 Standard Solutions are in 3 accessible lists Oxford TRIZ, re-ordered for simplicity and ease of use for solving problems, using Oxford TRIZ Function Mapping. These 3 lists are made up of the 24 strategies to deal with HARM which begin with the 6 Trimming Rules, and highlight ways of solving problems by removing rather than adding components. The 35 Boosters for insufficiency, for improving components or actions in a system that are good but not good enough and all 17 known conceptual solutions for detecting or measuring.

These lists were uncovered, collected and categorised by the TRIZ community in the 1940’s and 50’s. They contain all known solutions to problems found by analysing available published knowledge, particularly in patents and scientific papers. All TRIZ answers are distilled from essential technical problems by stripping out details to deliver these solutions. TRIZ was developed by engineers and scientists of the Soviet Union – in places like Ukraine which in 2026 has over 60,000 TRIZ practitioners.
