Sophie did an English Literature degree at Oxford Brookes University and quickly fell into a career in the realm of academic publishing, working in a range of roles for two major publishing powerhouses Wiley and Oxford University Press for the first 7 years of her career, finally settling into marketing roles, where she found could use both her creativity and her analytical mindset in one place.
She then fancied a change in sector and sidestepped into executive education with a move to the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford as Marketing Manager for the Executive Degree Programmes, including the Executive MBA. She oversaw all marketing for the flagship programme, for three years, growing the team to three in that time, until she was headhunted for a senior position as Head of Marketing Communications for a publishing and educational technology company in Andover, Hampshire – Cengage, overseeing a team of six marketing, design and events professionals.
After a little over a year, she went on maternity leave to have identical twin girls, Callie and Ellie and was unfortunate enough to be made redundant from her role in the time, due to a restructure resulting from a merger, which had been announced shortly after she went on leave. Looking for a flexible and enjoyable replacement role, she spotted the position at Oxford Creativity which aligned with her enjoyable experience at Oxford Saïd and promptly joined as Marketing Manager.
